“The future of the world is in his paws.” A rabbit, a skunk, and a turtle team up to save the world. An official trailer is available for an animated movie called Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog, a follow-up to the adventure comedy Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness from the same filmmaker. This is getting a UK theatrical release this summer after first premiering at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival last year. From filmmaker Benjamin Mousquet comes this 3D animated tale of a mission to find a mystical groundhog with the power to reverse time to save the entire harechicken clan! Chickenhare embarks on an epic quest in search of this mysterious groundhog with the ability to reverse time and save his species. His adventure takes a dangerous turn when his group discover they are not the only ones vying for this ancient power. The voice cast includes Melanie Liburd, Nina Pons, Carlotta Morelli, Matteo Bassi, Sutara Gayle, and Shaun Ramos. This obviously looks super cheesy but it’s meant for kids more than the adults.

Having embraced his difference as what makes him special, nothing can stop Chickenhare from exploring the world with his sidekicks Meg, a martial arts expert skunk, and Abe, a sarcastic turtle. An unexpected encounter with Gina, his sister, radically changes his plans. Chickenhare is not the only one of his kind! Chickenhare agrees to follow Gina in search of the only power supposedly able to save the harechickens. An epic journey full of many pitfalls in breathtaking new worlds, where secrets & dilemmas intertwine. Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog, also known as Hopper et le secret de la marmotte in French, is directed by animation filmmaker Benjamin Mousquet, also director of Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness previously and animation work on many other projects. The screenplay is written by David Collard and Chris Grine. Produced by Matthieu Gondinet and Matthieu Zeller. Made by nWave Pictures & Octopolis. This first premiered at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival last year. Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog opens in UK cinemas starting on July 24th, 2026 in the summer. No US release date is set yet.
