Following the news earlier this year that Damson Idris will star in a new Netflix political thriller, The Lords’ Day, the show’s wider cast has been confirmed, including some well-known British stars.

Deadline first reported that Harry Lawtey (Industry, Joker: Folie à Deux), Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), Sophie Willan (The Great British Sewing Bee), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Killing Eve) and Timothy Spall (Death Valley) have all joined the six-part series.
Idris, who starred in last year’s film F1 and has had key roles in series such as Snowfall and Black Mirror, leads the cast as British secret services agent Harry Jones.
The synopsis for the series, which is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Dobbs, the author behind House of Cards, says: “On the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Idris) finds himself inside the iconic building amidst a lockdown.”

The synopsis continues: “As the siege escalates, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival where not everyone will emerge alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s saviour?”
The Netflix thriller comes from Bad Wolf, the production company behind Industry, The Other Bennet Sister and, until recently, Doctor Who.
Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Better) will serve as lead writers and executive producers, while Ben Chanan, the creator of The Capture and director of its first season, will serve as director and executive producer on The Lords’ Day.
