The James Cameron directed Avatar: Fire and Ash was largely hit by the Dhurandhar wave at the box office in India. After opening at Rs. 18 crores on Friday, the film is showing a jump of about 20 to 25 percent on Saturday, with estimates falling in the range of Rs. 23 to Rs 25 crores.

With this, the two-day total of Avatar: Fire and Ash stands around the Rs. 43 crore mark, and the film is aiming at an opening weekend in the range of Rs. 65 crores to Rs. 70 crores. Avatar: Fire and Ash has taken a hit of at-least 25 per cent due to the unprecedented storm of Dhurandhar, and the hope is on it to show some legs over the holiday period of Christmas and New Year’s.
The film is still getting an audience due to the strong brand value of the director James Cameron, as well as the strong franchise recall in the country. The film will still do some business in the long run, which would make it one of the top 7 highest-grossing Hollywood imports in India, but a lot would depend on Monday hold and run through the Christmas window.
But obviously, the business is down from the last Avatar film, and it’s now on minimising the gap with a respectful trend as the reports are just about good and not great.
