The Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards 2025, scheduled on December 3 and 4 in Mumbai, brings together some of the busiest names in the streaming space. As part of the lineup, actor-filmmaker Tisca Chopra took part in the panel “Urban Ladder presents For the Sake of Love, and Some Thrill: In Conversation with the Director of Saali Mohabbat, Tisca Chopra.”

BH OTT India Fest 2025: Tisca Chopra reveals she and her husband “came to the brink of divorce” while co-writing Saali Mohabbat

During an interaction after the session, Chopra offered a candid look at the creative process behind her upcoming directorial debut Saali Mohabbat. The film, co-written with her husband, sparked more disagreements than she expected. “We have gone to the brink of divorce with every script… we cannot see each other eye-to-eye,” she said, describing the clash of interpretations that often came up during writing. “What you write is like a shape in the sky. If I am seeing an elephant, he is interpreting it as a ship… and then you just fight and fight without a common understanding. You later realise it was actually an egg or whatever.”

In a lighter moment, as part of the sponsor activity, the actor was asked to name her favourite piece of furniture at home. Chopra pointed to a well-worn leather chair. “It’s very comfortable because it has now taken the shape of my body,” she said with a laugh. She added that her husband has his own designated spot too. “Then of course we binge a lot… My husband has also written Saali Mohabbat along with me. So we watch a lot of content in the bedroom.”

Saali Mohabbat marks Chopra’s first feature as a director and is produced by Manish Malhotra and Dinesh Malhotra’s Stage5 Productions in association with Jio Studios. Starring Radhika Apte, Divyendu Sharma, and Anurag Kashyap, the film is set to premiere on Zee5 on December 12.
