Almost a year after Chhaava (Feb 2025), Bollywood has seen its biggest opener at the box office. While the Vicky Kaushal starrer had collected Rs. 33.10 crores on its opening day, Sunny Deol led ensemble affair has brought in Rs. 32.10 crores at the box office. Considering the fact that it was also a non-holiday, this is a very good number.
Back in 2023 number of movies had opened in Rs. 40-50-60 crores range, while 2024 too saw Stree 2 breaching the Rs. 50 crores mark and then Pushpa 2 (Hindi) crossing Rs. 70 crores. However, 2025 was slow as apart from Chhaava, no other film opened in the 30s and were basically relegated to the 20s even on holidays. Border 2 has broken the jinx though with Rs. 30 crores milestone being crossed. Yes, it seemed that Rs. 40 crores could well be achieved as well but then the gap isn’t much and with this being an extended four day weekend with the big Republic Day holiday on Monday round the corner, the deficit would be easily covered.
The Anurag Singh directed film will comfortably cross Rs. 100 crores by Sunday though the target would be to cross Rs. 150 crores by close of Monday. That would ensure a Rs. 200 Crore Club entry in Week One as well which will ensure that it gets into the safety zone soon enough.
