It seems as if Dhurandhar has finally met its match. Nidhi Dutta and T-Series’ Border 2 has opened to a massive response across India. If this box-office momentum continues through the weekend, Border 2 is likely to emerge as the first significant hit of 2026 and the project that finally breaks Dhurandhar’s prolonged spell over the box office.

Roshan Singh, a prominent exhibitor from Bihar, says the audience response has been tremendous. “After Dhurandhar, this (Border 2) is the film where audiences are going wild in movie theatres. War films have not been doing well lately. This one breaks the jinx.”

Asked about the USPs of Border 2, Roshan responds without hesitation, “Sunny Deol, Sunny Deol and Sunny Deol. Then comes the song Sandese Aate Hain. Audiences are jumping out of their seats at the sound of the old hit from Border (1997).”

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who has given Border 2 4.5 stars in his review, believes this could be the war film audiences have been waiting for. “It’s still too early to comment. Both are big-ticket films. Dhurandhar has already proven its box-office might, while Border 2 has just begun its journey — and it has started with a bang. If big films perform well, it’s always a healthy sign for the industry. Let’s hope Border 2 sustains the momentum and emerges as a smashing blockbuster in its own right.”
