Aditya Dhar’s spy-thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, is set to make its digital debut following a sustained theatrical run. The film will begin streaming on Netflix from January 30, giving audiences an opportunity to watch the action drama at home.

Released in theatres on December 5, 2023, Dhurandhar has remained in cinemas for several weeks despite competition from newer releases. Trade reports attribute its steady performance to consistent audience interest and its ensemble cast, which also includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan.

According to industry tracking portal Sacnilk, the film has collected approximately Rs 829 crore in India, placing it among the higher-grossing Hindi releases of the year. Its worldwide gross is estimated to be close to Rs 1,288 crore, while the India gross reportedly stands at around Rs 996 crore as the film completes nearly 50 days in theatres.

With its theatrical run largely stabilised, the makers have now turned their focus to digital distribution. As per reports, Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for Dhurandhar as well as its upcoming sequel, Dhurandhar 2, as part of a combined deal valued at approximately Rs 130 crore. The sequel is currently expected to release in 2026.

Trade analysts suggest that the digital premiere was intentionally scheduled later to allow the film to maximise its box office potential. There were also earlier discussions about releasing dubbed versions of Dhurandhar in select South Indian markets. However, due to a crowded release calendar during the holiday season, those plans were reportedly put on hold, with the makers opting for an OTT-focused strategy instead.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is positioned as a high-scale espionage drama and has received a mixed-to-positive response from critics, alongside steady audience turnout. With its arrival on Netflix, the film is expected to reach viewers who may have missed its theatrical run.
