Dwayne Johnson pays emotional tribute to Robin Williams as Jumanji completes 30 iconic years
Taking a moment during the shoot, Johnson shared a personal message and admitted he felt “chills” thinking about the three-decade journey that began with Williams’ performance in the 1995 film. He spoke about his deep admiration for Williams, referring to him as one of the greatest actors of all time and a major inspiration.
Recalling one of his favourite scenes from the original film, Johnson highlighted the tense moment between Alan Parrish and the villain Van Pelt. He quoted Williams’ dialogue in which Alan says, “I’m terrified, but my father always told me to face my fears,” followed by the iconic final word, “Jumanji,” as the dice begin to roll. The scene, Johnson noted, remained one of the most powerful moments in the film.
Johnson also shared that, as a mark of respect to Williams and the original Jumanji, he kept the original dice with him on set. He recalled having met Williams once and expressed gratitude for the chance to have shared a warm personal moment with him. Paying tribute to Williams and the entire original cast and crew, Johnson said their work continued to shape and inspire the franchise even after 30 years.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release Jumanji 4: The Final Level in India in December 2026.
