In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, Sonam Bajwa opened up about her diet, fitness choices and everyday lifestyle, offering a refreshingly honest glimpse into how she balances clean eating with her love for food, all while juggling a packed shooting schedule.

EXCLUSIVE: From chai and gol gappas to clean eating; here’s Sonam Bajwa’s fitness secret
Known for her effortless fitness and glowing screen presence, Sonam admitted that her food habits are far from rigid. “I have different things every day,” she shared, adding that her meals largely depend on her work schedule. Despite being conscious about health, the actress is unapologetically a foodie at heart. “I’m actually a total foodie, yaar. I love food so much, I can’t even tell you,” she laughed.
Her mornings usually begin on a familiar note. Tea is non-negotiable. “I love chai,” Sonam said, confessing that she ends up having it almost every day, even though she knows moderation is key. Breakfast varies, but when on set, it can be as simple as eggs and sometimes even fresh tandoor-made parathas if the shoot location allows.
When it comes to lunch, Sonam prefers sticking to comfort and familiarity. “I have proper Indian food, dal, roti, sabzi,” she explained. Dinner follows a similar pattern, though she tries to make lighter choices when shooting runs late. “If it’s late, then I try to have a salad,” she said though she candidly admits that salads are more of a compulsion than a craving. “I never really enjoy salad, but it’s healthy, so I eat it.”
Interestingly, Sonam believes discipline naturally follows work. “I realise I’m more disciplined when I have a shoot,” she said, acknowledging that busy days help her stay mindful of her food intake. Sleep, however, remains a work in progress. While she aims for the ideal eight hours, reality often intervenes. “Yesterday, I slept only five hours,” she admitted with a smile.
Despite her focus on health, Sonam doesn’t believe in deprivation. She has a soft spot for fruits, especially mangoes during the season and loves seafood. Sweets are another weakness. “I really like mithai,” she confessed, adding that on certain days she gives in to cravings for ice cream or desserts. Street food, especially gol gappas, also finds its way into her routine from time to time.
Sonam’s love for Indian food remains constant, whether it’s Punjabi, Rajasthani or any regional cuisine. In fact, she believes desi food is often the healthiest option. “When we’re shooting in villages, there’s no fancy food. Whatever you get on set is desi, and I feel desi food is wholesome and healthy,” she said.
Ordering food from outside does happen, she admitted, sometimes more frequently than planned. “You shouldn’t do it every day, but it ends up happening,” she said honestly. Yet, she maintains that balance is key — listening to one’s body while enjoying food without guilt.
Summing up her approach, Sonam’s lifestyle philosophy is rooted in practicality rather than perfection: eating clean when possible, indulging without excess, staying disciplined during work phases, and embracing Indian food as both nourishing and comforting. It’s a refreshingly relatable take from an actress who believes fitness is about balance, not obsession.
As Sonam signs off cheerfully, one thing is clear — for her, staying fit doesn’t mean giving up the joys of food, but learning how to enjoy them mindfully.
