After a strong theatrical run, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa is set to reach a wider audience with its digital premiere on ZEE5 on December 26. The romantic drama, which released during Diwali on October 21, 2025, surprised many with the scale of love it received at the box office—something even those closely associated with the film admit they hadn’t fully anticipated.

Reflecting on the response, Sonam Bajwa, who is the leading lady of the film, acknowledged that while she was confident about the subject finding its audience, the depth of appreciation went beyond expectations. “Well, I always knew that the film would be liked by a certain section of people because every subject, every kind of genre, and every kind of story has a certain audience. So I knew that some people would definitely like it. But the kind of response we’ve got for the movie, the kind of love people have showered on this film, has definitely surpassed my expectations. So yeah, I did think that it would be liked, but I didn’t know it would be loved so much,” he shared.

Set against an emotionally charged narrative, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat explores love in its most extreme form—passionate, consuming, and at times unsettling. The actress believes such stories inevitably raise questions about cinema’s influence, especially on younger audiences. “Yes, I do think that cinema can shape your thoughts, but does it shape everyone’s thinking? No. Does it influence some people? Yes. So I do think that it does play a role in sending out a certain message to society or people,” she said, stressing the importance of portraying consequences alongside intense emotions.

Sonam further pointed out that while obsession is central to the story, the narrative does not glorify it blindly. “Where does that obsession lead? Where does the person end up with that kind of obsession? What are the repercussions of making certain choices when you’re in love?” he added, underlining why showing outcomes is just as crucial as depicting emotions.

Drawing from personal experience as a viewer, the actor explained, “For example, someone like me — when I go to the movies, I purely go there because I view it as entertainment, as art… But I personally don’t go to learn something out of it. That does not mean that everyone who watches a film is also going with that point of view.” She also highlighted how factors like age and audience maturity play a role, noting that U/A certifications exist for a reason and should be respected.
