Prime Video’s Fallout, inspired by one of the most iconic video game universes, returns with a gripping second season that pushes its characters deeper into the chaotic heart of the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Set two centuries after the nuclear catastrophe, the new chapter continues to explore how the once-protected Vault Dwellers struggle to adapt to a world where brutality and dark humour sit side by side — and where the idea of justice grows murkier with every encounter.
Fallout Season 2: Ella Purnell teases Lucy’s moral reckoning; says, “She still believes in justice”
At the centre of this narrative is Ella Purnell’s Lucy, whose journey moves far beyond the wide-eyed curiosity showcased in Season 1. This time, she’s confronting uncomfortable truths about her past, her family, and the values she once believed were unshakeable. Speaking about Lucy’s emotional arc, Purnell shares that the season’s core is her character’s internal struggle. “The main theme for Lucy this season is very much about grappling with her identity and her moral values,” she says. Her search for her father continues, but with a drastically different purpose. Lucy is now forced to reconcile the man she thought she knew with the reality of his dark and devastating actions.
Adding to the tension is her reluctant partnership with The Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins. Their conflicting approaches set up one of the season’s most dynamic relationships. “Lucy wants to do the right thing. She believes in justice, accountability, and possible redemption,” Purnell explains. “The Ghoul, on the other hand, is more like — two bullets between the eyes and you’re done. And that’s a really fun dynamic to play with.”
Season 2 brings back Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, and Frances Turner. Produced by Kilter Films with executive producers Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham, the much-awaited new season of Fallout premieres globally on December 17, exclusively on Prime Video.
