Gujarati cinema’s Rs. 100 crores success Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate to reach pan-India audiences with Hindi release
Released in Gujarat on October 10, 2025, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate emerged as a rare box-office phenomenon. What began as a modest release gradually gained strong word-of-mouth support, eventually becoming the first Gujarati film to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark domestically. The film also collected Rs. 7.25 crores in overseas markets, underlining its growing appeal beyond regional boundaries.
At the centre of the story is Laalo, a rickshaw driver and family man burdened by past mistakes and everyday struggles. As circumstances spiral beyond his control, his internal conflict deepens. When he encounters faith at his lowest point, his life takes an unexpected turn. The film traces his emotional and spiritual journey, exploring themes of belief, fear, resilience and redemption. Rooted in realism while drawing from spiritual philosophy, the narrative unfolds both within Laalo’s inner world and his external reality.
The film features performances by Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, Karan Joshi, Mishty Kadecha, Anshu Joshi, Kinnal Nayak, Parul Rajyaguru and Jaydeep Timaniya. The cast, largely comprising emerging actors, delivers restrained and sincere performances that support the film’s grounded tone. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, the film features music by Smmit Jay, cinematography by Shubham Gajjar, and editing by Krushansh Vaja and Sakhiya. The 135-minute film is creatively produced by Shubham Gajjar.
The box-office journey of Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate stands out for its unusual growth pattern. Despite opening with around 300 shows and witnessing a sharp dip during the Diwali period, the film gained momentum from its third week onwards. Screenings expanded to over 3,000 shows, while admissions grew from approximately 19,000 in the first three weeks to over 39 lakhs in the following weeks—an exceptional feat for a regional film.
Reflecting on the film’s journey, director Ankit Sakhiya said the story was always intended to be simple and intimate. He shared that the idea of faith guiding an ordinary man through his darkest moments became the emotional core of the film. He added that the overwhelming audience response in Gujarat encouraged the team to bring the story to Hindi-speaking audiences across the country.
Producer Jay Vyas also highlighted the film’s unconventional success, noting that it was made by a largely first-time team on a limited budget. He credited audiences for turning the film into a Rs. 100 crores success and expressed hope that the Hindi release would allow more viewers to connect with Laalo’s journey of struggle and belief. He added that the team has visited hundreds of screenings to interact with audiences and plans to continue this outreach during the nationwide release.
With its strong audience connection, spiritual undertone and remarkable box-office performance, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate now moves into the national spotlight.
Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate releases nationwide in Hindi on January 9, 2026.
