After her eviction from Bigg Boss 19, actor Kunickaa Sadanand spoke in several interviews about her past relationship with singer Kumar Sanu. She explained why she chose to open up about this chapter of her life on the show and why she does not regret anything about her past.

During an interview with SCREEN, Kunickaa said she spoke about her personal life naturally while chatting with fellow contestants Neelam, Gaurav, and Farrhana. She shared that her intention was to help others understand boundaries and avoid people-pleasing. “It was nothing intentional; my agenda was never to degrade anyone. As for my relationships, they were right in their place at the time. I was mentally in a space where my experiences felt valid,” she said.

In a separate conversation with Zoom, Kunickaa reflected specifically on her relationship with Kumar Sanu and said she had no regrets. “Regarding my other relationships, with Kumar Sanu ji and others, sometimes I feel sad wishing they were with me now because I have evolved. I genuinely feel for them because I was dealing with my own emotional upheavals. I was navigating childhood issues, personal traumas, a broken marriage, and the challenges of moving to Mumbai. All that turmoil affected me, and my relationships must have been tough for them too. I don’t regret anything in my life. Nothing at all,” she said.

Kunickaa Sadanand and Kumar Sanu’s relationship

Kunickaa, known for her roles in films such as Beta, Gumraah, and Khiladi, recently confirmed that she had been in a relationship with Kumar Sanu while he was still married. Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, she said she met the singer at a friend’s home during a recording session. According to her, their relationship lasted six years and remained private out of respect for his family. She also claimed that Kumar Sanu’s then-wife, Rita Bhattacharya, eventually learned about the affair and reacted by damaging her car with a hockey stick.

On Bigg Boss 19, Kunickaa discussed the long-kept secret with contestants Tanya Mittal and Neelam Giri. She said, “I hid my secret relationship for 27 years and never commented on it. I have spoken about it now, and I feel light. He was a married man who had separated from his wife, and we were in a live-in relationship. I was not married at that time. Later, he had an affair with another girl. I left after he admitted cheating on me.”

Kumar Sanu married his first wife, Rita Bhattacharya, in 1980, and they divorced in 1994. They share three children: Jiko, Jassi, and Jaan Kumar Sanu. In 2001, the singer married Saloni Bhattacharya, with whom he has two children, Shannon K and Annabelle Kumar Sanu.
