The manner in which the advance booking was going for O’Romeo, it was expected that the film would open in Rs. 7-8 crores range. Well, the film did slightly better than that as it managed to hit Rs. 9.01 crores. This was made possible by the surge in footfalls during evening and especially night shows, and that’s what helped cover the distance from Rs. 8 towards 9 crores.

For Shahid Kapoor, the film has opened bigger than Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs. 7.02 crores) and far ahead of his last release Deva (Rs. 5.78 crores). Even for Shahid Kapoor – Vishal Bhardwaj combination, this is much ahead of Haider (Rs. 6.14 crores), though that film was released back in 2014. Triptii Dimri too has a bigger box office performance this time when compared to her last release Dhadak 2 (Rs. 3.65 crores).
That said, this one is a well mounted film by Sajid Nadiadwala and the budget shows on screen. This also means that there is good distance to be covered by the film from theatrical revenue perspective. Growth over the weekend would be key and while it’s a given that the film will go much ahead of double digit numbers today and tomorrow, what it would be aiming for is a weekend of Rs. 38-40 crores, with further consolidation over the weekdays.
