After drawing attention with a special exhibition, the makers of the much-awaited film Parasakthi have taken another major step towards its release with the unveiling of its trailer on Sunday. Starring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela—who makes her Tamil debut with the film—the trailer has sparked strong curiosity and conversation among audiences.

Parasakthi trailer out: Sivakarthikeyan takes on a fiery 1960s language movement; addresses clash with Jana Nayagan
Parasakthi also features an impressive ensemble cast including Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, Papri Ghosh and Rana Daggubati, among others. The film has been in the news for quite some time now, and the trailer finally offers a glimpse into its ambitious narrative and scale.
The story is set against the backdrop of the 1960s, a politically charged period when a massive movement erupted following discussion around making Hindi the official language of India. The film delves into how the movement gained momentum in Tamil Nadu, with protestors clarifying that their resistance was not against Hindi-speaking citizens, but against the idea of one language being given precedence over others in a multilingual nation. The trailer hints at intense drama, ideological conflicts and emotionally charged moments rooted in this significant chapter of history.
Technically, Parasakthi boasts a strong creative team. The music has been composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, while cinematography is handled by veteran filmmaker Ravi K. Chandran. Editing duties are overseen by Sathish Suriya, adding further weight to the project’s production values.
The film is slated for a Pongal release and will clash with the highly anticipated Jana Nayagan, which stars Thalapathy Vijay in what is being billed as his final film before stepping away from the industry. Addressing the much-discussed box office clash during the audio launch of Parasakthi, Sivakarthikeyan shared his initial reaction and the subsequent conversations that followed.
“I was shocked to learn both the films were releasing for Pongal. I called our producer and asked him if we could change our release date. But all the investors had been informed about the Pongal release and moving the film to summer 2026 would be tough because of the Tamil Nadu elections. I also spoke to Jagadish (Vijay’s manager) to ask him to check if it was okay with Vijay sir. Jagadish called me back and said that Vijay sir said that since it was Pongal, both films can release and won’t affect the box office of either. Vijay sir also conveyed his best wishes. Vijay sir has entertained us for 33 years. Watch Jana Nayagan and then watch Parasakthi on January 10. This is an ‘annanthambi’ (elder brother- younger brother) Pongal!”
With its socially relevant theme, powerful cast and a festive release window, Parasakthi is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Tamil films of the season.
