Rajinikanth arrived in Goa today along with his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth to attend the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where he will be honoured for completing 50 years in cinema.

The 2025 edition of IFFI held from November 20 to 28 has chosen to spotlight Rajinikanth’s extraordinary career, a journey that spans five decades. His presence at the closing ceremony is among the festival’s biggest highlights this year, drawing the attention of fans, filmmakers and the global film community.

A video shared online captured the moment when Rajinikanth and Aishwarya reached their hotel in Goa. They were welcomed in traditional style, with dhol beats filling the air as hotel staff greeted them with folded hands. Rajinikanth dressed in a beige shirt and black track pants — returned the gesture with a smile and folded hands, while Aishwarya walked beside him, interacting with well-wishers gathered to catch a glimpse of them.

For this year’s IFFI, the festival lineup is one of the most expansive yet featuring more than 240 films from 81 countries, including world, international and Asian premieres. Alongside celebrating new global cinema, the festival also paid tribute to icons of Indian cinema, screening restored versions of classic works from legends such as Guru Dutt, Ritwik Ghatak, P Bhanumathi and others.

Rajinikanth’s felicitation at IFFI honours not just his longevity, but his enduring influence from his humble beginnings as a bus-conductor-turned-actor to becoming one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated figures. His arrival in Goa with Aishwarya added a personal touch to the milestone, making the moment memorable for fans and the film fraternity alike.
