Shantanu Maheshwari’s Love in Vietnam recently had its Vietnamese premiere in Ho Chi Minh City, marking a significant milestone for the film. Notably, the project is the first officially recognised Indo–Vietnamese co-produced feature film, underscoring a growing creative exchange between the two countries.

Shantanu Maheshwari on Love in Vietnam premiere in Ho Chi Minh City: “Heartwarming to see the Vietnamese audience connect with our work”
The premiere was attended by Dr. Vipra Pandey, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, along with several Vietnamese film personalities, cultural representatives, industry professionals, and members of the international media. The event highlighted the increasing collaboration between Indian and Vietnamese cinema and the role of film in fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
Audience response at the screening was warm, with viewers engaging closely with the film’s narrative and setting. Positioned as more than a conventional theatrical release, Love in Vietnam was received as a cultural collaboration that brings together storytelling traditions from both nations.
Sharing his experience following the premiere, Shantanu Maheshwari said, “After getting a fabulous response in Korea, it was heartwarming to see the audience of Vietnam connect with our work. The film officially released in Vietnam a few days ago, and the response since then has been very encouraging. The fact that we shot extensively in Vietnam and collaborated with Vietnamese artists like KhaNgan helped create a stronger emotional connect. Many viewers were visibly moved during the love story portions, which was reassuring for all of us.”
Love in Vietnam has been filmed across several prominent locations in the country, including Furama Resort in Da Nang, Ba Na Hills, Phu Quoc, and Samten Hills in Da Lat. These settings form an integral part of the film’s visual narrative, grounding the story in Vietnam’s varied landscapes.
The film brings together cast and crew from both India and Vietnam and features performances by Shantanu Maheshwari, Avneet Kaur, and Vietnamese actress KhaNgan. By combining creative talent from the two regions, Love in Vietnam aims to lay the groundwork for future collaborations within Asian cinema.
