Sharmila Tagore celebrated her 81st birthday surrounded by family and close friends and the social-media posts by Soha Ali Khan captured the warmth of the day.

Soha shared photos from the intimate gathering on her Instagram handle, showing Sharmila Tagore alongside her son Saif Ali Khan and granddaughter Sara Ali Khan. In her caption, Soha wrote, “My amma on her birthday – missed you, Apa @sabapataudi.”

Sara also posted a heartfelt birthday wish earlier in the day, sharing a lovely photo of her grandmother and writing, “Happiest birthday to the Chanda and Suraj of our family (two hearts, love hands, and full moon face emojis). Love you beyond words, Badi Amma.”

Notably absent from the in-person celebration was Kareena Kapoor Khan share a warm online tribute. She posted previously unseen family pictures, writing, Happy birthday, dearest mother-in-law.”

In the photos Kareena shared, there is one showing Saif with his mother and baby Jeh Ali Khanin her arms, another of Kareena strolling with Sharmila with a text overlay, “Always trying to follow in your footsteps.” and a final one showing Sharmila playing with Jeh in a park.

Sharmila Tagore who made her Hindi film debut in Kashmir Ki Kali and starred in classics like Amar Prem, Aradhana, and Chupke Chupke remains a beloved icon of Indian cinema, and this birthday brought together generations of her family to honour her legacy.
