Suniel Shetty shared why he chose to appear in Darbar with Rajinikanth and in the film Jai, where he made a cameo. In a recent public session, Lallantop Adda 2025 in Delhi, the actor spoke about why he generally avoids most offers from the South film industries.

Suniel Shetty explains why he turns down most South film offers and what made him say yes to Rajinikanth’s Darbar

Suniel said he did receive offers, but filmmakers often approached Bollywood actors for negative roles. He explained that South filmmakers usually preferred casting Hindi film stars as antagonists because it appeared strong on screen and appealed to audiences. He added that this pattern was one of the main reasons he stayed away from such roles.

He also spoke about his decision to work in Darbar and Jai. Suniel said he accepted Darbar mainly because he wanted the experience of working with Rajinikanth. He added that he recently did a small Tulu film, Jai, to support the project, and the film performed well. According to him, language was no longer a barrier for audiences and that strong content could easily cross boundaries.

Suniel’s upcoming projects

Suniel was last seen in the series Hunter 2, which also featured Jackie Shroff. His next film is Welcome To The Jungle, starring Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, and others. He also has Hera Phera 3 lined up, with filming expected to begin in February or March next year.
