The makers of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups have unveiled Tara Sutaria as Rebecca, adding another key layer to the dark, expansive universe of Yash’s upcoming film. The announcement follows the earlier reveal of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, and Nayanthara as Ganga, each character introduction gradually mapping the film’s tone and scale.

Tara Sutaria introduced as Rebecca in Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups
Rebecca is described as desirable, enigmatic and emotionally guarded, a character who balances fragility with authority. The first-look poster presents her in a gilded yet unsettling setting, holding a gun with ease—suggesting a woman shaped by instinct, self-preservation and power. While she appears vulnerable on the surface, the imagery hints at a personality that wears control naturally, almost as a survival reflex.
For Tara Sutaria, Toxic marks her first entry into the pan-India space, signalling a significant shift in her career trajectory. Known largely for roles that leaned into elegance and polish, the actor is set to move away from her familiar screen image and step into a far more volatile, gritty environment.
Director Geetu Mohandas, who has also co-written the film with Yash, spoke at length about her experience working with Tara and the approach she adopted while shaping Rebecca on screen. She said, “I’ve always felt an instinctive love to protect Tara . Perhaps because she is a guarded soul or perhaps it’s the armour she’s comfortable with . And perhaps it doesn’t need to be defined.”
He further added, “I realized early on that the best way to reach her was not by pushing, not by demanding more, but by allowing her the space to simply be. That choice shaped our equation which turned out calm , deeply professional, and perfectly aligned. She observed more than she spoke. She listened more than she revealed. And I often wondered if I should guide her more closely. But in her silence, something powerful was brewing .When she finally stepped into her performance, what emerged was nothing short of breathtaking which is born from an inner understanding she carried all along. She surprised me completely, and in the most beautiful way. I have no doubt she will surprise everyone else too.”
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has been filmed simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and other languages. The project brings together a strong technical team, including cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, music composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni and production designer TP Abid. Action sequences are being handled by Hollywood stunt director JJ Perry, alongside National Award-winning action choreographers Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The date coincides with the festive stretch of Eid, Ugadi and Gudi Padwa.
