Amid growing speculation around the postponement of Love & War, Alia Bhatt has opened up about the film and her experience of working on it, offering a glimpse into the creative process behind Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated directorial. Speaking to ET, the actress described the project as deeply fulfilling, even as industry sources confirm that the film’s release timeline has undergone a significant shift.

Calling Love & War a passion project, Alia shared, “It’s a very special film. We’ve been shooting it throughout the year, and it never feels like enough. You always want one more day, one more moment, one more scene where you’re just jamming the energy.” Her words reflect the scale and intensity of the film, which brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in a high-profile collaboration.

Alia also spoke at length about reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with whom she previously worked with on Gangubai Kathiawadi. She said, “Working with Sanjay sir is one of my most treasured experiences because of the way he brings his magic to every single moment. But it’s also deeply collaborative. The energy on set is very quiet and focused. We come in, we work hard, and everyone brings something different to the table. Of course, the final magic wand is always in Sanjay sir’s hands. It is one of the most fulfilling creative experiences I’ve had on a film set.”

Meanwhile, a source told Bollywood Hungama that the film’s shoot has expanded considerably, leading to changes in the release plan. “Ranbir, Alia and Vicky have blocked their calendars till May 2026 now. All their prior commitments stand delayed due to the increase in shoot days for Love And War,” the source revealed. The same source added that a June release is no longer feasible and Bhansali is now aiming for an August or September 2026 theatrical release, with the final date yet to be locked. The delay has reportedly also led to a rise in the film’s budget and impacted the scheduling of Ramayana, whose team was hoping for a longer gap between the two releases.

Love & War marks the reunion of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor after Saawariya (2007). For Alia Bhatt, the film brings together collaborators she has previously worked with—Bhansali, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal—raising expectations even further. While the release date remains undecided, the film continues to be one of the most closely watched projects on the Bollywood calendar.
