As Fighter completes two years since its theatrical release, Anil Kapoor took a moment to reflect on the film’s enduring impact and the memories it continues to evoke. Released around Republic Day, the Siddharth Anand directorial starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, had arrived in cinemas with a strong wave of patriotism, creating a charged atmosphere that blended scale, emotion and national pride — a sentiment that, according to Kapoor, has only grown stronger with time.

Anil Kapoor marks second anniversary of Fighter with emotional post: “Two years later, it still soars high”
Sharing a heartfelt note, the veteran actor expressed gratitude for the journey Fighter has taken since its release. Posting photos from the film, Anil’s caption read, “Two years later, Fighter still soars high. Looking back with so much gratitude for the memories that stay long after the screens fade. Some journeys don’t end with the release… Here’s to the spirit, the people, and the love that keeps it alive”. Reacting to Kapoor’s anniversary post, co-star Hrithik also joined in, as he commented, “You are the man for all seasons” – a remark that reflected the mutual respect shared between the actors and the collaborative spirit behind the film.
Fighter struck a chord upon release, particularly due to its timing around Republic Day, when audiences connected deeply with its themes of duty and pride. The film’s aerial action spectacle, combined with its emotional undercurrent, helped it stand out as a large-scale cinematic experience. Anil Kapoor’s association with the project further reinforced his long-standing link with stories that celebrate national purpose and collective emotion.
In the film, Kapoor portrayed Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, a role that formed the emotional anchor of the narrative. His character brought gravitas and restraint, complementing the performances of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, who played Indian Air Force officers at the centre of the story.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and based on a story co-written with Ramon Chibb, Fighter was produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures. Alongside its lead cast, the film featured Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Rishabh Sawhney and Sanjeeda Sheikh in supporting roles.
As Fighter continues to resonate with viewers two years on, Anil Kapoor now looks ahead to his next project, Subedaar, adding another chapter to a career marked by versatility and longevity.
