At the age of 70, veteran actor Anupam Kher is once again proving that age is just a number not just through his evergreen acting career, but by pushing fitness boundaries and inspiring his followers.

Kher recently posted on Instagram some snapshots from his gym session, showing off a toned physique and posing against gym equipment like treadmills and stacked dumbbells. With the post, he delivered a message of resilience and courage, “The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried. Jai Bajrang Bali! #ShapeUp #NeverGiveUp #InnerStrength.”

This isn’t the first time Kher has left fans awestruck by his dedication to fitness. As recently as October, he shared a gym picture flaunting his muscular back while doing a weighted pull-down. Captioning that post, he wrote, “You can be a #PosterBoy even at seventy!!! Because you never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”

Apart from inspiring fans with his workout updates, Kher was recently at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Addressing the IFFI masterclass, he called Hollywood icon Robert De Niro his best friend. Kher, who wrote papers on Mean Streets and Taxi Driver during his student years, eventually got the opportunity to work with De Niro in David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook.

According to a report in Variety.com, De Niro initially resisted the presence of Kher’s character in an important scene in the film. Kher explained that he offered his point of view despite the risk of losing the role and the chance to act with the legendary actor. The risk proved worthwhile, and later that night, De Niro praised Kher’s performance and invited him for a drink in his van.

Reflecting on that moment, Kher shared, “Because I was truthful and not worried about being unpopular with the unit. Today, I can claim that Mr. Robert De Niro is one of my best friends.”
