As Day 2 of the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest and India Entertainment Awards continued in Mumbai, the cast of Rahu-Ketu — Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma and Shalini Pandey — joined Chunky Pandey for a lively conversation that unexpectedly steered into nostalgia. The veteran actor recalled little-known details about the making of Tezaab (1988), offering a glimpse into how close one of its most memorable songs came to being removed.

Varun Sharma began by sharing a moment from their outdoor shoot together for Rahu Ketu. He recalled the first day of filming in Manali, saying the team was gathered around a bonfire outside their hotel when Chunky Pandey returned late from set. “As soon as he walked in, people in the party upstairs started playing ‘So Gaya Yeh Jahaan.’ Everyone joined in. The 90s kid inside us… It felt like nostalgia on steroids,” he said.

Responding to this, Chunky Pandey opened up about the song’s unexpected history. “Let me share a secret… that song was almost cut from the film,” he said. Explaining the situation, he added, “When Tezaab was made, the entire film was five hours long. It was actually planned to be released in two parts. What you see today is around three hours and fifty minutes. The team wanted to trim it further, and they felt the song was too slow.”

According to him, director N. Chandra stood his ground. “He fought hard for it. He said that if the song was removed, the film would feel too heavy and give the audience a headache. That’s how it survived the final cut,” Chunky noted.
