Prajakta Koli recently spoke about how the rise of OTT platforms transformed her career, sharing an honest and light-hearted reflection on her journey. When asked at the Bollywood Hungama OTT Fest 2025 whether OTT changed things for her, she admitted that she never expected the shift it brought.

“I honestly didn’t think I was on the radar of directors, writers, or creators when it came to big platforms like Prime Video or Netflix,” she said. According to her, the opportunity felt so unexpected that she initially questioned whether it was even meant for her. “When I got an audition call for Mismatched, my first thought was: Is there another Prajakta they’re trying to reach out to?” She joked that her confusion came from the fact that there is also a well-known Marathi actor with a similar name—Prajakta Mali. “I really like her, and sometimes our names are saved differently in people’s phones. So, I often end up getting her contacts or details by mistake,” she said. “I’ve even received drivers’ details saying, ‘Ma’am, pickup for the airport is scheduled for tomorrow morning,’ and I’d think, Where am I even going?”
Once she confirmed the audition was indeed for her, everything changed. Prajakta explained that landing Mismatched became a turning point in her career.
“Eventually, I went through the entire process and got the part. Mismatched opened so many doors for me. I don’t think any kind of buildup could have made things fall into place so smoothly for someone like me,” she said.
Her story highlights how OTT platforms continue to reshape opportunities for new-age creators and actors—often in ways they least expect.
