Dia Mirza celebrated her birthday with a purpose, choosing to amplify an environmental message instead of the usual celebratory posts. The actress, producer and UN Goodwill Ambassador shared a special video from her latest collaboration with Project Mumbai — reaffirming her long-standing commitment to climate action and sustainability.

Dia Mirza marks birthday with powerful climate appeal: “I’m always walking this path with you”
The video offered a glimpse into her appearance at Project Mumbai’s Zero Waste Schools Sustainability Mela 2025, where she attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing a hall filled with schoolchildren, Dia delivered a heartfelt message that resonated deeply with the young audience. “My mentor Bittu Sehgal always tells me there are only two political parties in this world. The bacha party and the buddha party. And the buddha party has made some big mistakes. So who is going to be the conscience of the buddha party? You’re absolutely right it’s the bacha party,” she said, urging children to recognise their agency.
She further added, “So never ever forget that I am internally a part of the bacha party and I’m always rooting for you and I’m always walking this path with you in love and in humility.”
The event, organised in the lead-up to Mumbai Climate Week, brought together students, teachers and community members under the theme Youth for a Climate-Resilient Mumbai. Designed as an immersive learning platform, the mela showcased practical solutions in waste management, recycling initiatives and sustainable lifestyle practices. Dia Mirza interacted with young climate advocates across the city, encouraging them to take ownership of environmental stewardship early in life.
Her continued alignment with climate causes echoes her work with the United Nations as well as her personal sustainability initiatives.
On the professional front, Dia Mirza recently wrapped up filming an untitled project directed by Kanwal Sethi, in which she stars alongside Rahul Bhat. Under her production banner, One India Stories, she is also celebrating the success of Panha, which recently won Best Indian Short Film at ALT EFF.
The actress’s birthday message stands as a reminder of her dedication to using her platform for meaningful change — and her belief that the next generation will shape a more responsible future for the planet.
