Veteran actor and politician Hema Malini shared an emotional tribute to her late husband Dharmendra on X, marking her first public statement since the film icon’s death. In a series of posts, she reflected on their life together and described him as “everything” to her — a partner, friend, and guide whose loss created an irreplaceable void.

Dharmendra died on Monday, November 24, at the age of 89. In her message, Hema Malini remembered him as a devoted husband and a caring father to their daughters, Esha and Ahana. She also recalled how warmly he connected with her entire family.

“Dharam ji… He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father of our two girls, Esha and Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, poet, my ‘go to’ person in all times of need — in fact, he was everything to me,” she wrote. She added that he remained a steady presence through both good and difficult times. “He endeared himself to all my family members with his easy, friendly ways, always showing affection and interest in all of them.”

Hema Malini also spoke about his stature as a public figure, saying his talent, humility and widespread appeal made him “a unique icon” who stood apart from other legends. “His enduring fame and achievements in the film industry will last forever,” she wrote. Calling her loss “indescribable,” she said the emptiness left behind “will last through the rest of my life.” She added that she now held onto countless memories from their many years together.

Dharmendra, often referred to as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” appeared in more than 300 films. He passed away in Mumbai 12 days after being discharged from Breach Candy Hospital.
