Kunal Kemmu has been receiving rave reviews for his performance in the recently-released Netflix web series Single Papa. The show has also received positive feedback. Kemmu got talking about the show in an interview with us.

What made you choose the series Single Papa?

I just really liked the script and the way the relationships were written. My bond with my daughter only helped me relate to the emotion better.

What was it like working with such a talented ensemble including Manoj Pahwa and Neha Dhupia?

The cast I think is superb and it was a joy and a breeze working with each one of them. I really think that each actor fits the role perfectly

The series for all its flippancy secretes a delectable message on breaking gender stereotypes. As a hands on father how strongly do you feel about masculine parenting?

I think parenting is not a gender defined role. It’s a mix of both masculine and feminine energies which can be present in one individual.

You turned director recently with Madgaon Express… Is that a vocation you enjoy? Are you directing anything?

I feel very lucky to have gotten the opportunity to direct something that I had written. And blessed that it got so much love and that it worked. I have enjoyed being a writer director and will be doing it again soon. More on that very soon.

Would you be okay with your daughter becoming an actor some day?

I would like for my daughter to have varied interests and experiences and when she is an adult. If she chooses to be an actor, then I will fully support her decision.
