Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Divyenndu, director Buchi Babu Sana, producer Venkata Satish Kilaru and cinematographer Ratnavelu attended the trailer launch of their film Peddi at a multiplex in Mumbai. Fans of Ram Charan were also in attendance in full form and they couldn’t stop hooting and cheering for their favourite star. Ram Charan was humbled by all the love and in his speech, he remembered Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.

When asked about the injury on his hand, Ram Charan said, “This is a small gift that Buchi has given me during the course of the film. In the last 25-30 days, we did a lot of kushti-pehelwan shoots. I asked him to get trained artists; instead, he got real pehelwans. Whenever the action would say ‘action’, woh log mujhe zordaar patakte the! That’s what happens. I have a cartilage injury here (points to his hand). It’s fine, and it’s worth it. I have a beautiful memory of Peddi!”

He continued, “As Rahman sir said, we went through a spiritual journey while making Peddi. Physically, it was very challenging. I want to thank Salman sir and Aamir sir for paving the path for such films with Sultan and Dangal, respectively. It gave us so much confidence. Thanks to both of them for starting this journey. We believed that these kinds of films have worked in the past, and obviously, our film fall in the same zone. The transformation had to be done; it is a part of the story. I remember the day the story was narrated to me. We sat down on the floor and he (Buchi Babu Sana) narrated the script to me. Even then, I knew that it was physically going to be very tiring, but it was all worth it.”

Ram Charan continued, “It’s about a man’s search for his identity. He goes through an identity crisis, how he finds it through a larger cause and why he becomes a crossover athlete is what the film is all about. It is organic and at the same time, it is highly commercial. Audiences of all ages would be happy and surprised to see the film.”

Peddi releases in cinemas on June 4.
