Actor Priyanshu Painyuli chose a deeply personal and meaningful way to celebrate Christmas this year, spending the festive day with school children in Wakro village, Arunachal Pradesh. Accompanied by his family, the Mirzapur actor visited the village as a secret Santa, bringing festive cheer to students of Apna Vidya Bhavan, a school established by Rohinso Krisikro and inaugurated in 2003 by Priyanshu’s father, Retd. Col. Vinod Kumar Painyuli, during his service in the Indian Army.

Located in the Lohit district, Wakro—often called the “Orange Orchard Town” for its expansive orange cultivation—is known for its natural beauty, Mishmi tribal culture, and spiritual significance. The village holds a special place for the Painyuli family, particularly because of the educational initiative their father helped establish over two decades ago. The school continues to serve underprivileged and tribal children from the region and is currently run by a local village leader committed to community development and education.
During the visit, Priyanshu and his family spent time with the students, celebrating Christmas through games, music, dance, and songs. Cakes were distributed to all the children, turning the day into a joyful occasion filled with laughter and warmth.
Reflecting on the experience, Priyanshu Painyuli shared, “Christmas has always been about giving, gratitude, and togetherness for me, and being here in Wakro made it even more special. This place is very close to my heart because of the work my father started here years ago. Watching these children smile, sing, dance, and celebrate with such pure joy reminds you of what truly matters in life. My father dedicated a part of his service to creating opportunities for these kids, and to return here with him, especially during Christmas, felt incredibly grounding and emotional. The warmth, innocence, and love these children share is something I will always carry with me. I feel grateful to be able to celebrate the festival not with grandeur, but with genuine human connection.”
The visit underscored the true spirit of Christmas, highlighting the importance of education, community-led initiatives, and compassion. Priyanshu Painyuli’s celebration in Wakro stood as a reminder that meaningful festivities are often found away from city lights—within shared moments, collective joy, and quiet acts of kindness.
