Following reports suggesting that Tom Hardy could be leaving the cast of MobLand after the second season due to behind-the-scenes drama, it has now been claimed that he will actually be returning.

Hardy’s potential exit was first reported back in May, with the suggestion being that this was due to growing frustration between Hardy and head writer Jez Butterworth.
Hardy’s co-star Dame Helen Mirren later attempted to stamp out speculation that they had also been feuding, by sharing an Instagram photo of the actor with a caption that read: “Love you now and always.”
In June, when asked whether she would continue to work with Hardy, Mirren told Variety: “Absolutely. In a f**king heartbeat.”
Now, Deadline has reported that Hardy will be staying on for season 3. The show has not yet been officially renewed beyond its upcoming second season, but a writers’ room has apparently already been opened.

According to Deadline, in the weeks since initial reports of Hardy’s departure, there has been outreach that opened the door for the actor to continue on the show, culminating in a recent meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth and series executive producer David Glasser.
Sources told the publication that the meeting went well, with the trio coming to an understanding about a path forward. Executive producer Guy Ritchie was also reportedly involved in the process of patching things up.
