However, fans are confident that this twist is not real, and with other evidence from outside the show also supporting the claims, it does seem like Nick’s death is indeed a ruse.
Did Nick die in The Young and the Restless?
As of the April 15, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Nick has supposedly overdosed and died. Matt revealed this to Adam and Chelsea. While this came as a big shock to fans of the show, they soon started theorizing that this is not the truth.
One of the major reasons for this to be false is that it is coming from Matt, who is infamous for wanting to rattle the cages of the Newmans. Moreover, it is very unlikely that the show would go for such an iconic character. Not only is Nick the only son of Victor and Nikki, but he has also been a pivotal presence for years.
The theory that Nick is alive and Matt is simply lying also holds up when paired with actor Joshua Morrow’s stance.
The actor has clarified that he has no desire to leave Young and Restless. He previously told Soaps.com, “I couldn’t want to be famous less,” he said, “and for all intents and purposes, I’m not. Nobody cares what I do in this town. There are far, far more people who are way more famous and interesting, so I can live my life and not have to worry about that.”
He further added, “So this is an incredible way to provide for my family, to make a great living and to be in a job that is very fulfilling that lets me work with incredible people… It’s really been just like the Powerball of jobs as far as I’m concerned.”
