Like any other year, 2025 was a roller-coaster ride filled with some significant, pleasantly surprising, as astonishing events that took place and the manner in which some films performed at the box office. In a bid to understand this tumultuous and exciting year, we at Bollywood Hungama, on a lighter note, decided to redevelop the English alphabet from A to Z, keeping in mind the important events of the year.

These fantastic five rocked the show and were the big newsmakers.
B – BOGO, Block Booking
The industry continued with these tactics to attract people to cinemas and to increase the collections.
C – Chhaava
The first blockbuster of 2025, which was powered by exceptional performances and a shocking climax.
D – Dharmendra
The whole country mourned when he left for heavenly abode.
E – Eight hours
Thanks to Deepika Padukone, the demand for fixed working hours for female actors took centrestage.
F – Flipperachi
The Bahraini singer became a nationwide sensation because of Akshaye Khanna’s cool dance moves.
G – Gupt
The 1997 song ‘Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela’ began to be seen in a different light thanks to the shocking climax of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood.
H – Hera Pheri 3
Fans were left disappointed when Paresh Rawal announced that he had quit the third part of the iconic franchise. Thankfully, he soon returned.
I – Idli
The humble South Indian snack was very well utilized by the makers of Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat to drive the story forward and to raise laughs.
J – Jaya Bachchan
She left the paps and even netizens outraged with her comments.
K – Knife
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in his own house, sending shockwaves.
L – Loveyapa
The film was in the news for the wrong reasons, from its pre-release dance fiasco to dismal box office numbers.
M – Mrs
The Zee5 flick was widely talked about, thanks to the hard-hitting content and also due to criticism from those who felt that the Sanya Malhotra-starrer was ‘anti-men’.
N – Nadaaniyan
The Netflix romcom was one of the most trolled movies in recent times.
O – Oscar
Homebound is racing ahead in the Oscar race very well.
P – Pay per view
Aamir Khan ditched the OTT route and released Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube under the PVOD model.
Q – Quite a year for Vicky Kaushal, Harshvardhan Rane
Vicky ruled the roost with Chhaava. Harshvardhan, meanwhile, proved he’s a force to reckon with, with the re-release success of Sanam Teri Kasam. With Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, he confirmed that he’s here to stay and leave a mark at the box office.
R – Ranveer Singh
The talented actor got his due, and how, with Dhurandhar, making him one of the top stars today.
S – Saiyaara, Sikandar
While the former was a surprise blockbuster, the latter was widely criticized for its weak writing, direction and performances.
T – Taj Mahal
The wonder of the world was talked about a lot this year, first in the Badass Ravi Kumar song and later in The Taj Story.
U – Udit Narayan
The singer was in the news this time not for his songs but for his kissing spree.
V – VPF
The expense that reignited the fight between multiplexes and producers; Jolly LLB 3 almost didn’t make it to PVR, thanks to it.
W – War 2, Wig
A lot was expected from the YRF flick, but it bombed and how. Meanwhile, wig was talked about as it was one of the reasons why Akshaye Khanna had issues, while signing Drishyam 3.
X – e(X)treme collections of films
While Chhaava, Saiyaara and Dhurandhar overperformed, Azaad, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Nishaanchi, Homebound, 120 Bahadur, Gustaakh Ishq etc. sank without a trace. Nishaanchi struggled to even reach Rs. 1 crore mark.
Y – Yami Gautam
The talented actor rocked the show yet again, first with her adorable act in Dhoom Dhaam and later with the hard-hitting Haq.
Z – Zende, Srikant Tiwari
Manoj Bajpayee won hearts as an officer with a quirk, first in Inspector Zende and later in the much-loved The Family Man.
