Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar went onto become the highest grossing Hindi film ever. This was possible not just because of its starcast but also the content. The film’s ambitious subject of portraying the inner world of the mafia of Lyari in Karachi and linking it to Indian intelligence struck a chord with audiences worldwide.
Best Film (Critics’): Homebound
Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound turned out to be a heartwarming saga that touched the audience with its emotional tale. This also ensured that the film became India’s official entry for the Oscars. Apart from Ghaywan’s sensitive handling, the performances of Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa played a major role in its final result.
Best Director: Aditya Dhar
Dhurandhar had an ambitious and complex storyline that delved deep into the underworld of Lyari in Karachi and how it is involved with terror activities in India. Such a subject needed a mature and fine handling and that is exactly what Aditya Dhar provided. The end result and the enormous success of the film can be attributed majorly to this factor.

Dhurandhar had an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt. But it wasn’t a typical hero-centric commercial caper. The film scored high in storytelling with a lot of layers along with unique characterization of the ensemble cast.
