“It’s coming for us!” Plus M Entertainment in Korea has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for the totally crazy new epic sci-fi movie made by Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin (of The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, The Wailing) titled simply Hope. This just premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival hours ago playing in the prestigious Main Competition in France. I just came out of seeing it and it’s bonkers, though I’ve got to say it’s very strange to be playing at Cannes, it’s much more of a midnight special than a slick Cannes premiere. A mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of a remote harbor town when a monster suddenly attacks. The residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they’ve never encountered before – alien creatures that have crashed nearby… This teaser already reveals tons of surprising footage, including a quick look at the aliens themselves. The cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, plus appearances by Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender. This film has a bunch of awesome action scenes in it, playing out in both the forest and in this town and all over the place. This is a must watch teaser for every sci-fi geek – keep an eye out for this soon.
Here’s the first teaser trailer (+ poster) for Na Hong-jin’s sci-fi action film Hope, direct from YouTube:

In the remote village of Hope Harbor, near the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the community is thrown into chaos when a tiger is suspected to have appeared and local police chief Bum-seok is alerted. But what begins as a local emergency soon spirals into a deeper, more terrifying mystery, one that forces the town’s residents to confront the unknown. Hope, also known as 호프 in Korean, is written and directed by the acclaimed Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin, director of the films The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing previously, plus other short films. Produced by Na Hong-jin and Kim Sae-mi. Made by Forged Films & Plus M Entertainment in Korea. This just premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival playing in the Main Competition. It opens first in Korean cinemas this summer. Neon will debut Na Hong-jin’s Hope in US theaters later this year. Stay tuned for the final US release date. First impression?
