Netflix has plenty of teen shows on its platform, but there’s just no denying that Heartstopper is one of the most entertaining ones. What’s so great about this incredible series is how it makes you feel. It’s the type of show that’ll make you think back to your own teenage years and how it felt to fall in love for the first time.
Since its premiere back in 2022, it has kept a steady audience. Three seasons have been released so far, and now everyone’s gearing up for the final movie. Yes, Netflix decided to go a different route to wrap up Charlie and Nick’s love story. It’s titled Heartstopper Forever. For some fans, they aren’t too happy about the switch-up. But for others, they’re trying their best to remain positive and hopeful that creator Alice Oseman will still deliver a satisfying conclusion.
An official release date and synopsis have already been revealed for Heartstopper Forever. Now, we’ve just learned of a rumor swirling around about the movie’s runtime. According to What’s on Netflix, Heartstopper Forever will clock in at just under two hours. The news outlet reports that the film‘s runtime is 1 hour and 51 minutes.
While fans are used to Heartstopper‘s hours-long seasons, this feature-length format might take some time getting used to. But honestly, I’d argue that this is a pretty solid runtime for a romance film. I think it’s just enough time to fully wrap up Charlie and Nick’s story, as well as their friends’.
However, it’s worth mentioning that neither Netflix nor the movie’s creative team has confirmed this runtime. That said, we’ll just have to wait and see whether this rumored runtime turns out to be accurate. But we do have some more good news. Directed by Wash Westmoreland and written by Oseman, Heartstopper Forever is based on Heartstopper volume 6 by Oseman. It is set to wrap up Charlie and Nick’s story, but we’ll definitely see the young couple face some obstacles. With Nick getting ready for university while Charlie stays back to finish school at Truham, they’re going to find their relationship in a tricky spot. They’ll be forced to deal with long-distance, and that’s something that can strain even the strongest relationships.
Meanwhile, we’ll see their friend group face their own challenges. Joe Locke and Kit Connor return as Charlie and Nick. In addition, the returning cast includes Yasmin Finney, Will Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, and others. New cast members for the final movie are Anna Maxwell Martin, who is taking over the role of Sarah Nelson, and Derek Jacobi.
Heartstopper Forever is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, July 17, 2026. While an official release time has not been revealed yet, there’s a good chance the movie will drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. Of course, that’s when Netflix typically releases new shows and movies on its platform.
