What happens in the Victorian Psycho trailer?
The trailer shows Monroe’s character, Winifred Notty, seemingly possessed by an entity or concealing a dark secret, scaring the residents of the manor with increasingly horrific antics. Events happened when she discovered a severed ear under her bed. Beyond that, the trailer keeps the film’s story closely under wraps, much like its teaser poster.
Victorian Psycho was originally announced two years ago, with Margaret Qualley as the lead character. The film is based on screenwriter Virginia Feito’s novel of the same name.

“Winifred Notty arrives at Ensor House prepared to play the perfect Victorian governess,” reads the book’s synopsis. “She’ll dutifully tutor her charges, Drusilla and Andrew, tell them bedtime stories, and only joke about eating children. But the longer Winifred spends within the estate’s dreary confines and the more she learns of the perversions and pathetic preoccupations of the Pounds family, the more trouble she has sticking to her plan.”
Victorian Psycho stars Maika Monroe as Winifred Notty, Jason Isaacs as Mr. Pounds, Thomasin McKenzie as Ms. Lamb, Amy De Bhrún as Mrs. Fancey, Jacobi Jupe as Andrew, and Ruth Wilson. The film is directed by Zachary Wigon from a screenplay by Virginia Feito and produced by Dan Kagan and Sebastien Raybaud. Executive producers include Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros, Feito, andBleeckerStreet’s Kent Sanderson and Miranda King.
Victorian Psycho will be released in theaters in fall 2026.
