Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has reacted to filmmaker David Dhawan’s recent playful comment about him “changing” after the success of Dhurandhar duology. While David Dhawan jokingly remarked that Bedi’s “walk has changed” after finally receiving long-overdue recognition, the actor has now responded with humility, saying that success and failure have never altered his personality.

During a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama, David Dhawan spoke fondly about his decades-long friendship with Rakesh Bedi while discussing the actor’s role in his upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Reflecting on Bedi’s growing appreciation among audiences, Dhawan had said, “Our friendship is 50 years old. He has worked in a lot of films of mine. He is in this one too. I told him, ‘Fifty years ago they didn’t recognise you, they are discovering you just now’. He is a fine actor, he was always a good actor.”

The filmmaker further joked about the actor’s changed body language after the success of Dhurandhar. “You can see the spark and the way he now comes walking. ‘Yaar teri chaal change ho gayi.’ He is my classmate, we were even ragged together at FTII. It’s amazing,” Dhawan had added.

Reacting to these comments in an interview with ETimes, Rakesh Bedi said he does not pay much attention to whether people think he has changed over the years. “I don’t think too much about who has changed and who hasn’t. People change, and that’s okay. I know who I am,” Bedi said.

Opening up about the difficult phases of his career, the actor shared that he has gone through periods with no work and financial uncertainty, but those experiences never changed his approach towards life. “I have seen many ups and downs in my life. Like every actor, I have also gone through phases when I had no work and was sitting idle. In fact, I have seen even tougher days than that. But none of it affects me much,” he said.

The veteran actor further added that he tries to maintain balance regardless of success or failure. “Whether life goes down or things go well, I try to remain the same. I don’t let success or failure change me,” Bedi stated.

Addressing David Dhawan’s “chaal badal gayi hai” remark directly, the actor responded with warmth and honesty. “Even if someone says that Rakesh ki chaal badal gayi hai, I honestly feel I am still the same person,” he concluded.

Rakesh Bedi has been receiving renewed appreciation from audiences following the success of Dhurandhar duology, with many praising his screen presence and comic timing. The actor will next be seen in David Dhawan’s upcoming entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
