“I won’t kill a man who hasn’t harmed me.” Well Go USA has debuted a new official trailer for a sci-fi action thriller titled Warriors of the Wasteland, which is actually just a new US title for this release. Warriors of the Wasteland is a Serbian production made by a Serbian filmmaker named Nemanja Ćeranić and it was originally released there in 2024 under the title Son’s Will. The entire film is shot in English starring Igor Bencina as the badass anti-hero Jovan wielding a samurai sword slicing up anyone who gets in his way. It’s being sent to VOD in the US and is out this week to watch anytime. After the “Last War”, the truth lies in the eye of an ancient sword. Solitary drifter Jovan traverses the dangerous wastelands, searching for his sister and the man who kidnapped her. The city waits. A dark post-apocalyptic tale set in the west Balkans, after a nuclear war. Starring Igor Benčina, Isidora Simijonović, Sergej Trifunović, Marta Bjelica, Jovo Maksić. There’s a new trend of these apocalyptic wasteland action thrillers from Eastern Europe, I believe reflecting many feelings about the current state of the world and how to fight back. Even though this seems like an ambitious movie for Serbia, it looks like just another Mad Max ripoff with metal mask villains & all.

In a distant future following a nuclear catastrophe, the West Balkans have become a lawless wasteland where the most valuable currency is the bullet. A mysterious blind fiddler wanders the ruins, singing the legend of the “Grain People”—a peaceful community of wheat-growers who refuse to submit to a distant city’s tyranny. When a young warrior’s family is slaughtered by a deranged warlord, he embarks on a bloody quest for vengeance. Armed only with a blade and a motorcycle, he must navigate radioactive cults and hallucinations to protect the last remnants of civilization. Warriors of the Wasteland, also known as Son’s Will (or Воља синовљева) is directed by Serbian filmmaker Nemanja Ćeranić, director of the films Loan Shark and Nedelja previously, plus other series & shorts – including an series of epic poems based on this film. Produced by Milos Avramovic and Aljosa Ceranic. Made by Mir Media Group. This initially opened in Serbia back in 2024 and it played at Screamfest 2025 last year.
