“I see what, what, man must not see!” ❄️ Hammer has revealed an official trailer for their brand new 4K re-release of this classic 1950s adventure horror movie The Abominable Snowman. These trailers for old school classics from the past are always good fun and worthy of being watched – even if it is from a movie released some 69 years ago. Re-teaming Quatermass creator Nigel Kneale and BAFTA-winning director Val Guest, this thrilling fantasy horror has been painstakingly restored by Hammer Films in 4K from the best available film elements. Dr Rollason and his team, on a scientific expedition in the Himalayas, are guests at an isolated monastery. Then a second expedition of Americans turns up – intent on trapping the legendary Yeti in a money-making venture. Hammer adds: This is the definitive version of a film that has deserved one for decades. Peter Cushing at his most quietly compelling, a Yeti you almost never see, and a script by the legendary writer of Quatermass that asks harder questions than most horror films dare to. It also features Forrest Tucker, Maureen Connell, Richard Wattis, and Robert Brown. It was filmed at La Mongie in the French Pyrenees (not really the Himalayas of course), before returning to Bray & Pinewood studios in the UK. This brand new 4K BR release has tons of special features, including docs, commentaries, and more.
Here’s the new 4K re-release trailer for Val Guest’s classic The Abominable Snowman, from YouTube:

Hammer legend Peter Cushing and Hollywood hard-man Forrest Tucker give powerful performances in this adventure as a well-meaning scientist and an arrogant entrepreneur, both intent on trapping the fabled Yeti, in Hammer’s The Abominable Snowman. A kindly English botanist and a gruff American scientist lead an expedition to the Himalayas in search of the legendary Yeti. The Abominable Snowman is directed by prolific British actor / filmmaker Val Guest, director of tons of other films – he made this one right around the same time as Carry On Admiral (1957), Enemy From Space (1957), The Camp on Blood Island (1958), Up the Creek (1958). The screenplay is written by Nigel Kneale. Produced by Aubrey Baring. The film originally premiered and opened in both the US & UK in theaters in 1957. Hammer explains: “This is the definitive version of a film that has deserved one for decades.” This brand new 4K restoration release contains more than just the original: Two versions of the film. Three commentaries. Six new documentaries. A 120-page book. A brand new limited edition poster. Hammer releases The Abominable Snowman on 4K + Blu-ray starting August 31st, 2026 coming up soon.
