A new set image from The Odyssey was shared, offering a glimpse at Lupita Nyong’o’s Clytemnestra. The Academy Award-winning actress is pulling double duty in the action/fantasy by also essaying Helen of Troy, the former’s sister, whose abduction sparks the Trojan War, which Odysseus participates in.

60 Minutes recently shared a video exploring Christopher Nolan‘s filming of The Odyssey on IMAX 70mm film cameras. At the 2:37 mark, the filmmaker can be seen interacting with Lupita Nyong’o, dressed in Clytemnestra’s purple regal attire. Benny Safdie is also shown standing next to her, sporting Agamemnon’s black battle armor.
However, both are only shown from behind, via a top-down view. Accordingly, the front part of their outfit is not visible.

In several Ancient Greek stories, including the Homeric epics, as well as plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, Clytemnestra is the wife of Agamemnon, with whom she conceived Orestes and Electra.
She is infamous for murdering Agamemnon after he returns from the Trojan war, in revenge for his sacrifice of their daughter Iphigenia to the gods. However, in the Odyssey and the Iliad, her role in the latter’s murder is ambiguous. Moreover, her part in these two epics is much smaller.
The Odyssey premieres in theaters on July 17, 2026. It marks Nolan’s first feature to be shot entirely on IMAX. Reportedly made on an estimated $250 million budget, it is said to be the filmmaker’s most expensive movie to date.
In addition to directing, Nolan wrote the screenplay. He also produced with his wife and producing partner, Emma Thomas, via their production banner, Syncopy. Universal Pictures co-produced, in addition to serving as distributor.
Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, whose long journey back home after the Trojan war drives the film’s narrative. The supporting cast includes Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena, and Charlize Theron as Calypso. Additional cast members include Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, John Leguizamo, and Himesh Patel, among others.
