Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment are bringing the Mirzapur franchise to theatres for the first time with Mirzapur: The Movie, releasing worldwide on September 4, 2026. The film reunites the original ensemble, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya.

Ahead of the release, Divyenndu spoke about returning to the role of Munna Bhaiya and what audiences can expect. “It’s going to be vintage Mirzapur. We are coming all guns blazing. You’ll see the same characters as the first season, how they were. It’s a similar setting but in a different situation. Because it’s a film, it’s on a much bigger, cinematic canvas, and it’s truly for the fans,” he said.

On the enduring love for Munna Bhaiya, he added, “I still can’t fathom the love people have for Munna. Sometimes you wonder if a character like that actually exists in a parallel world. Since my character died in season three, people were making these emotional reels with old Hindi songs asking him to come back.”

Divyenndu also reflected on the broader significance of the film. “It’s going to be a revolution in terms of revenue streaming. I think many people are eyeing this to see if it works so they can do the same. Just like the first time Mirzapur came out and no one expected anything, I think the film is on its way to doing something historic,” he said.

Directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur: The Movie is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani as co-producers. The film releases in theatres worldwide on September 4, 2026.
