Argentina continue their World Cup campaign on Friday night as Lionel Messi and co face Cape Verde in the round of 32.

Lionel Scaloni’s side won all three of their group games to top Group J while scoring eight times and conceding just once. Messi was also in fine form, as per usual, with the forward netting six times in that period.
Argentina won it all in 2022 in Qatar and they’re hoping to become just the third team ever, after Italy and Brazil, to have won back-to-back World Cups.

While Argentina are among the favourites to lift the trophy, Cape Verde have already overachieved by reaching the knockout stages given they’re the third-smallest nation to ever feature at a World Cup.
Cape Verde, who are making their debut at a tournament, drew all three of their group games against Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia to finish second in Group H and automatically qualify for the round of 32.
Whoever wins on Friday night has a favourable draw. The winner will play either Australia or Egypt in the last 16, with Switzerland, Algeria, Colombia or Ghana waiting for them in the quarter-finals.
