There is now less than a month to wait until beloved football comedy Ted Lasso returns on Apple TV, and now Hannah Waddingham has teased that fans can expect something special from season 4.
Waddingham, who has played Rebecca Welton in the series since the very first episode, was speaking exclusively with Radio Times about her action-comedy Ride or Die, where she stars alongside Octavia Spencer.
When asked – which you can watch in the video above – how excited fans should be and what they can expect from the new, long-awaited batch of episodes, Waddingham said: “Oh, it’s going to be… the writing just continues to excel like it always has, and we have our Lady Greyhounds.
“So, it’s going to be a wonderful season.”
The Greyhounds is the nickname for the football team Welton owns and Jason Sudeikis’s Ted coached, AFC Richmond. At the end of season 3, Juno Temple’s Keeley was seen proposing a women’s team to Rebecca, and we now know that season 4 will see Ted returning to the UK in order to coach them.
The synopsis for season 4 says: “In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
Other returning stars include Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, while newcomers include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.

Waddingham’s new Prime Video series, Ride or Die, sees her playing Judith Burton, who is best friends with Spencer’s Debbie Claybourne. What Debbie is unaware of, however, is that Judith is an international assassin.
The synopsis for the series says: “When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith’s past and a hit goes horribly wrong, both of their worlds are turned upside down as they’re forced to go on the run together. It’s a race against time and a road trip across Europe, with law enforcement, highly trained assassins, and some very dangerous criminals at their heels.”
