“You need this, Mason. You need to get your mojo back.” Vertical has revealed the official trailer for The Gentleman Thief, a crime thriller about a thief and a heist arriving to watch this summer. The latest team up between producer / filmmaker Randall Emmett & actor John Travolta – they made Cash Out and High Rollers before. The Gentleman Thief stars John Travolta again as the same character, Mason Goddard, a professional thief which is now his character of choice in his later years. In this next movie, a retired master thief must protect his impulsive brother from disaster when a $100M yacht heist spirals into a dangerous web of deception. Old foes emerge as the stakes rise, forcing him to use every trick he knows to stay alive. Along the way, Mason finds a chance at true love – but only if he can make it to the getaway alive… Starring John Travolta, Lukas Haas, Rebecca De Mornay, Sam Asghari, with Quavo and DJ Khaled. This is getting dumped on VOD right away later this month but it’ll also play in a few theaters as well. Set mostly in Miami, this looks like an instantly forgettable heist movie made only for the people in it to get a paycheck.

Unless he pulls off the most ingenious heist of his career involving a yacht, it’s game over for Mason and his ragtag crew of thieves. As the heist spirals into chaos and the yacht erupts in flames, Mason and his loyal crew vanish – presumed dead. But he plots his revenge. With the help of his enigmatic ex-lover Odessa, he infiltrates Salzar’s empire, outsmarts the Feds, and sets his most daring con in motion. This time, Mason isn’t just after the score. He’s after payback. The Gentleman Thief is directed by American action producer / filmmaker Randall Emmett (who is also known as just “Ives”), director of the films Midnight in the Switchgrass, Savage Salvation, Cash Out, and High Rollers previously, plus a producer on many other projects. Produced by Joel Cohen, Randall Emmett, Sean Stone. This hasn’t premiered at any fests or elsewhere, as far as we know. Vertical debuts Emmett’s The Gentleman Thief film on VOD starting on July 28th, 2026, then in select theaters starting July 31st. Look any good?
