Kajol recently opened up about why she believes arguments between parents and children play a vital role in shaping healthy communication within a family. The actor attended the trailer launch of the upcoming Marathi film Uttar along with her mother, veteran star Tanuja, and filmmaker Renuka Shahane. While appreciating the film’s concept, Kajol also reflected on her own bond with her two children and how they navigate disagreements.

Kajol reveals parent-child arguments are healthy: “When they argue with me, I look at it as a compliment”

Speaking about the importance of these exchanges, Kajol emphasised that arguments are not signs of conflict but a natural and necessary part of parenting. During the event, she was asked about the kind of relationship she shares with her son and daughter. Responding with her trademark candour, she said, “Thank god my daughter is not here to answer this question. She will argue with me about it. It’s absolutely true. It is necessary to have arguments between parents and children.”

Kajol further explained that disagreements often show that children are confident in expressing themselves. Elaborating on this thought, she added, “If we fight, we realise that we have raised a mind that argues with us and has a point of view of its own. So, we have raised our children to think for themselves. When they argue with me, I look at it as a compliment.”

Her mother, Tanuja, also chimed in with a humorous touch, recalling Kajol’s childhood. As Kajol insisted that she never argued with her mother, Tanuja quickly countered with a playful remark: “You did it all the time.”

Kajol, who has been married to actor Ajay Devgn for 26 years, shares two children with him Nysa Devgn and Yug Devgn. The actor’s perspective highlights a modern, open approach to parenting, where debates are seen as opportunities for growth, independence, and emotional understanding within the family.
