Back in 2024, it was confirmed that a dramatic adaptation of the true story surrounding the unsolved 1996 murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey would be coming to Paramount+.

The series, titled The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey, wrapped filming in January 2025, with Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen leading the cast as Ramsey’s parents.
In 2025, after Paramount Global’s acquisition by Skydance Global, the series underwent a review by the new leadership at Paramount+, and a decision was made not to go forward with it.
Now, it has been revealed that the series will be released on Netflix, with a winter 2026 release window having been confirmed. It has not yet been announced the exact date that the series will be made available.

The series, which has been co-written by Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach, directed by Anne Sewitsky and showrun by Richard LaGravenese, tells the story of Ramsey’s death and the subsequent public reckoning through multiple perspectives, including the Ramsey family, investigators and the media.
Ramsey’s murder was covered in a three-part Netflix docuseries back in 2024, titled Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.
The wider cast of the drama series has also now been unveiled, with young actor Emily Mitchell playing Ramsey, alongside McCathy as her mother Patsy and Owen as her father John.
