Off Campus has quickly become one of Prime Video’s most successful launches of all time, which bodes well for those fans wanting all five novels to be adapted.

The romantic drama follows academic musician Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), who enters a pretend relationship with college hockey star Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), in an attempt to get the attention of her real crush, band frontman Justin (Josh Heuston).
Based on the books by Elle Kennedy, the series has delighted both readers and newcomers alike with its first season – and the proof is in the numbers reported by Prime Video today.
The streamer has announced that Off Campus is its third-biggest launch for a debut season of all time, attracting 36 million views in its first 12 days of availability – a figure beaten only by mega-budget genre shows The Rings of Power and Fallout.

One notable caveat is that Prime Video has not defined exactly what it counts as a ‘view’, meaning it’s possible that just a matter of seconds would qualify (as opposed to entire episodes watched).
In any case, it’s still an impressive feat, with Amazon MGM Studios executive Peter Friedlander saying that the company “couldn’t be happier to see such a passionate community come together”.
A second season of Off Campus had already been ordered prior to the launch of the first – which now seems a canny move – with filming expected to begin in the near future.
Creator Louisa Levy, who led the adaptation of Kennedy’s books, told Radio Times that she was “ready” to make as many seasons as Prime Video is willing to pay for – which is an exciting prospect for fans of Briar University’s other eligible bachelors.
Although the series has seen comparisons with fellow hockey-adjacent sex-positive romance Heated Rivalry, the structure of Levy’s production really has more in common with Bridgerton (as noted in our Off Campus review).
In addition to main characters Hannah and Garrett, the first season introduced several supporting characters who get love stories of their own in future novels – with Logan (Antonio Cipriano) and Grace Ivers (India Fowler) believed to be next in line.
