The buzz surrounding Ram Charan’s upcoming pan-India film Peddi continues to grow after the recently released trailer generated strong reactions across the country. Positioned as a sports drama set against a rural backdrop, the film explores themes of ambition, talent, and empowerment while tracing a journey from village grounds to international sports arenas.

Ram Charan reveals what PM Narendra Modi asked him about Peddi: “I told him it’s about an evolved India”
Amid the rising anticipation around the film, Ram Charan recently revisited his meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and shared details about their conversation regarding the core idea behind Peddi. Speaking about how South Indian films are increasingly drawing inspiration from local culture and rooted storytelling, the actor highlighted the importance of showcasing rural India on a larger cinematic scale.
“The films we are making in the South today are deeply rooted to our culture and soil. They are not city-based but set in villages and towns. Our archery team in India has many tribal players because they naturally possess that talent. It’s beautiful when such talent from villages gets recognised,” Ram Charan said.
The actor further recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him about the premise of Peddi during their last interaction in Delhi. Elaborating on the exchange, Ram Charan shared, “The last time I met our Honorable Prime Minister Modi ji in Delhi, he asked me what Peddi was about. I told him it’s about an evolved India and empowering our villages. Modi ji then shared a story from West Bengal, where decades ago a footballer from a small village represented India, and today over 85 people from that same village play football.”
The makers of Peddi recently organised a large-scale musical event in Bhopal on May 23, which saw the presence of the film’s ensemble cast including Janhvi Kapoor, Ravi Kishan, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. Director Buchi Babu Sana and music composer A. R. Rahman also attended the event. The film has steadily built momentum through its posters, teaser, trailer, and soundtrack releases.
In the film, Ram Charan will reportedly portray a crossover athlete, drawing parallels to real-life sports personalities who explored multiple disciplines before achieving success in one. The film aims to blend sports drama with emotional storytelling rooted in village life and aspirations.
Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi stars Ram Charan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, and IVY Entertainment.
The film features music by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by R. Rathnavelu, production design by Avinash Kolla, and editing by Navin Nooli. Peddi is slated to premiere globally on June 3, 2026, followed by its theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
