Actor Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace has already been making headlines due to reports surrounding reshoots, creative changes, and its delayed release schedule. Amid the growing curiosity around the film, choreographer and filmmaker Mudassar Khan has now shared fresh details about a major song sequence featuring Salman Khan.

Salman Khan shot for five days for Maatrubhumi song featuring 200 dancers, reveals Mudassar Khan
During an exclusive interaction with Filmygyan, Mudassar Khan opened up about choreographing a large-scale track for the film and praised Salman Khan’s energy and dedication during the shoot. According to him, the song is mounted on a massive scale and includes nearly 200 dancers.
Speaking about the experience, Mudassar said, “Abhi maine ek gaana kiya hai Salman Khan sir ke saath in Maatrubhumi, it’s a very big song. 200 dancer hai, edit ho raha hai, aur Bhai ne usme kya baap level perform kiya hai. Humney 5 din shooting kiya tha.”
The statement has increased excitement among Salman Khan fans, especially at a time when speculation surrounding the film’s future continues to dominate conversations online. Reports suggest that Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is currently undergoing extensive reshoots and script modifications due to geopolitical sensitivities connected to the story.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is believed to be inspired by the 2020 Indo-China military standoff in eastern Ladakh and loosely adapted from a chapter in India’s Most Fearless. Salman Khan reportedly plays the role of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the Indian Army officer who was martyred during the Galwan Valley clash along with 19 soldiers.
The film was initially announced under the title Battle of Galwan. However, the makers later renamed it Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace in an apparent effort to shift the focus from a direct geopolitical conflict to a broader emotional and patriotic narrative.
Industry reports have claimed that portions of the movie are being reworked to soften the political aspects of the storyline following improved diplomatic relations between India and China. A lengthy reshoot schedule is also said to be underway, which reportedly delayed the film’s original April 17, 2026 release plan.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the project, Mudassar Khan’s comments have offered fans a glimpse into the scale and ambition of the film. His praise for Salman Khan’s performance in the song sequence has already generated buzz on social media, with many fans now eagerly waiting for the first visuals from the track.
The makers are reportedly targeting an Independence Day weekend release in August 2026, although an official confirmation regarding the final release date is still awaited.
